Tips for Shopping the Catalogs
- Use the most applicable catalog(s) for the type of purchases you are making. Due to university contractual terms, some items may be blocked in a supplier catalog. This situation generally occurs when there is another supplier(s) that has primary authority to sell that item(s).
- When purchasing laboratory/medical/scientific supplies, use a catalog that specializes in those commodities to ensure you are receiving legitimate products at the best overall cost and warranty/return coverage. Steer clear of third-party suppliers that sell medical and laboratory supplies and equipment, as these items may not be appropriate for university research, teaching, and patient care.
- Some catalogs may have a minimum order charge for free shipping. Pay close attention to additional charges that may appear in a punchout shopping cart. Bundle orders, when possible, to take advantage of free shipping and other benefits associated with larger orders.
- The Candex catalog is used for payments to research participants and non-employee honoraria and is not a commodities catalog.

If needed, you can cite an applicable supplier agreement on a non-catalog Requisition in Aggie Enterprise as indicated below. Include all applicable catalog and/or part numbers in the Item Description field on the Requisition as well.
A Procurement Card can also be used but be sure you cite the university agreement number when contacting the supplier, to ensure university pricing, terms, and conditions. The Procurement Card can only be used up to the default spending limit of less than $10K, regardless of the spend amount allowed on the agreement.
