Chart of Accounts: New Financial Department Request Process

Effective immediately, all requests to create a new Financial Department in the UC Davis Chart of Accounts will be reviewed quarterly by the Chart of Accounts Financial Department Governance Board. This increased review is required to ensure that the Financial Departments are necessary for both Aggie Enterprise Planning and Aggie Enterprise GL reporting requirements. Requestors will be required to attend the Governance Board meeting to present their justification after the initial validation of the submitted template.

To initiate a request, submitters must complete the Value Request Template (instructions available here) and include the following information:

  • Proposed budget for the new Financial Department
  • Number of people that will report to the new department
  • Indicate whether the department is a new organization or part of an ongoing organization.

This process supports consistent financial governance and ensures appropriate oversight of Financial Department creation.
