Purpose Code 80 Deactivated

Effective September 18, 2025, Purpose Code 80 (Provisions for Allocations) is no longer available. UCOP reporting requirements do not allow general ledger balances under Purpose Code 80.

Purpose Code 00 must be used for all accounts under:

• 77502D – Unit Level Appropriation Transfers
• 77510D – Central Campus Appropriations

The only exception is for Student Financial Aid appropriations, which should continue to use Purpose Code 78 to ensure proper Net Position balance at year-end.

Cleanup Efforts and Next Steps

Finance will adjust all Purpose 80 balances during the September 2025 period close. Finance may reach out to department contacts to determine the best Purpose Code for various expense balances.
